2017 Fiat 124 Spider

If the 2017 Fiat 124 Spider looks familiar, that’s because underneath its sheetmetal lurks a Mazda MX-5 Miata. The 124 is 5.5 inches longer, and under the hood is a 1.4-liter turbo four making 160 hp and 184 lb-ft versus the Miata’s 155 hp and 148 lb-ft.

It will offer a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic and different gearing for quicker acceleration. An Abarth version is also coming, with a unique exhaust, a limited-slip differential, and Bilstein shocks.
Fiat’s stated curb weight for the 124 Spider with the manual is 2436 pounds, or 104 pounds heavier than the Miata. Besides flaunting a little more bodywork, the 124 also rocks a turbo. There really isn’t any extra content, and the interior is identical to the Mazda’s save for the steering-wheel badge and the seat covers.
Fiat's revived 124 Spider will hit the market later this year with a base sticker price just shy of $26,000, but the Italian automaker plans to offer a wide range of models.
The base 124 Spider Classica will come with 16-inch alloy wheels and cloth seats. Six color options will be available on the Classica trim level.
