If the 2017 Fiat 124 Spider looks familiar, that’s because underneath its sheetmetal lurks a Mazda MX-5 Miata. The 124 is 5.5 inches longer, and under the hood is a 1.4-liter turbo four making 160 hp and 184 lb-ft versus the Miata’s 155 hp and 148 lb-ft. It will offer a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic and different gearing for quicker acceleration. An Abarth version is also coming, with a unique exhaust, a limited-slip differential, and Bilstein shocks. |
Fiat's revived 124 Spider will hit the market later this year with a base sticker price just shy of $26,000, but the Italian automaker plans to offer a wide range of models. |
The base 124 Spider Classica will come with 16-inch alloy wheels and cloth seats. Six color options will be available on the Classica trim level. |
